Job Description

If you would like to be involved in the implementation of a new program which will help to decrease new HIV infections, Prism Health North Texas is seeking a Behavioral Intervention Specialist-PrEP. This position is responsible for assessing HIV negative people for HIV risk factors using recommended protocols, coordinating linkage to the PrEP medical provider when appropriate, facilitating processes to help those prescribed PrEP to get the medication and take it according to guidelines, providing guidance and counseling regarding reducing risk of acquiring sexually transmitted infections and condom use, and providing ongoing follow up. A key responsibility is to help clients access and remain engaged in the PrEP Program. 


The candidate must be culturally competent and experienced in working with diverse populations within a human services field, such as social work, psychology, counseling or public health; be knowledgeable about risk factors for HIV and sexually transmitted infections, human sexuality, and behavior change strategies; and be proficient with using computer software applications such as Windows and Microsoft.  The candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication abilities. The candidate will be required to use his/her own vehicle for transportation to outreach events and/or to meet clients, and must have a valid driver’s license and appropriate automobile insurance. The position has a minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in a social science or public health discipline. Two year degrees with licensure and/or demonstrated experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
