Job Description

Are you looking for a position in the social services industry, helping impact the lives of clients? We have the perfect opportunity for you! Prism Health North Texas (PHNTX) is seeking a Coordinator for the EmPowerment for Positives program- the HIVE. The HIVE provides an opportunity for people living with HIV/AIDS to build their own community and supportive network through social interaction and activities separate from clinical service settings.  Participants learn, share experiences, and receive support from each other regarding HIV transmission, risk reduction, and adherence to medical treatment, thus creating a sense of mutual responsibility.  The Coordinator’s key responsibilities include planning and helping with HIVE activities in collaboration with the core group; facilitating core group meetings; and managing operations of the PHNTX East Dallas Empowerment Center during programming times.

The candidate must be culturally competent and experienced in working effectively with diverse groups within a human services field, such as social work, psychology, counseling, or public health.  Additionally, the candidate should be knowledgeable of HIV/STI risk behaviors, human sexuality, substance abuse, and HIV behavior change strategies; have strong social skills and be able to maintain appropriate boundaries with HIVE participants; and must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication abilities.  The candidate should also know how to use the MS Office software package including Publisher. The opportunity requires the ability to work weekday evenings and a flexible schedule including some mornings and weekends.  The position has a minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in a social science or public health discipline- although experience may be considered in lieu of education.  EmPowerment is a peer led intervention and volunteer management experience is preferred, but not required.
